Blues concert to be held Saturday in Cannon Beach CANNON BEACH — The Tolovana Arts Colony will wrap up the 2021 Concert in the Park season with a tribute con- cert for musician Maggie Kit- son Saturday night. The concert will be held at the park located northeast of the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce building at 2nd Street and Spruce. In Cannon Beach, Kit- son is often referred to as the “beloved fi rst lady of the blues.” The show will feature Kitson’s friends and collaborators, who will pay respect to her musical infl uence in Cannon Beach and beyond. The free, family-friendly concert begins at 5 p.m. Satur- day. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, low-backed chairs and picnic baskets. Dogs, frisbees and soccer balls are welcome. Social distancing and masking requirements will be observed in accordance with Oregon state laws. Visitors will not need a Discover Pass to park in all visitor parking lots in Depart- ment of Natural Resources and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife lands and day-use areas. The free entrance day applies to Cape Disappointment State Park, Leadbetter State Park and several other state-owned lands located on or near the Long Beach Peninsula. In 1994, National Public Lands Day was established as the fourth Saturday in September. The National Environmental Educa- tion Foundation coordinates the special day every year. In 2019, the Washington State Legisla- ture passed a bill proclaiming the fourth Saturday in September as Washington Public Lands Day.
