    Cannon Beach gallery hosts weekend wine event
‘Haystack Memories,’ by Hazel Schlesinger, will be featured at Northwest by Northwest Gallery
this weekend.
CANNON BEACH — The Northwest by
Northwest Gallery in Cannon beach will fea-
ture new artwork and host a weekend wine
event for the Earth & Ocean Arts Festival this
weekend.
Visitors will see new works by Ann Flem-
ing, Surmon, Don Stastny, Hazel Schlesinger,
Christopher Burkett, Angelita and Ivan
McLean. The gallery will also introduce
Laura O’Brien paintings of Haystack Rock
and “Cannon Beach Rocks Furniture.”
A weekend wine event will take place in
the Sculpture Garden with wine facilitator
and educator Patrick McElligott, who will be
speaking about his award-winning Sineann
w ines. The event will take place Friday from
2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. to
3 p.m.
Plein air artist Hazel Schlesinger will be in
the gallery’s sculpture garden from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Masks will be required throughout the
event for the safety of guests.

CANNON BEACH — The Earth &
Ocean Arts Festival will be held in Cannon
Beach Thursday through Sunday.
The festival will showcase the wonders
of the natural world and encourage environ-
mental stewardship through a broad range
of gallery exhibits, live art performances
and events.
Art For the Sky to create world’s larg-
est sea star: The public is invited to be
part of a live art project that will create
the world’s largest sea star on the beach,
entirely made up of people. The live art
project will be coordinated by Art for the
Sky, known for creating giant living paint-
ings made of groups of people that are pho-
tographed from the sky.
Live performance installations and
roving performers: Public spaces in Can-
non Beach will become participatory the-
ater as award-winning San Francisco based
theater group, We Players, acclaimed
nationally for their site-integrated perfor-
mances, will perform from their recent
sold-out production.
Dualing easels: Participants will watch
as painters Michael Orwick and Anton
Pavlenko simultaneously begin paintings
then switch canvases several times before
fi nishing.
Gallery events: Each of Cannon
Beach’s art galleries will feature the work
of their artists with strong environmen-
tal connections during the weekend. Sev-
eral galleries will host special guest artists
who will off er demonstrations and meet the
public.
Farm to fork dinner and We Players
performance: Iron Chef Goes Coastal win-
ner Jonathan Hoff man will cater an exclu-
sive limited attendance culinary event. The
cost is $150.
Raku pottery fi ring on the beach:
Ceramic artists Dave and Boni Deal will
fi re a raku piece on the beach for the pub-
lic to view.
Earth & Ocean Arts Festival is a fund-
raiser for fi ve North Oregon Coast based
