Annual
barbecue
returns to
Olney Sunday
OLNEY — The annual Olney
Grange No. 793 Pit Beef Barbe-
cue fundraiser will be held Sun-
day from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at
the grange hall, 89342 Highway
202, about 10 miles from Astoria.
The menu will include pit
barbecued beef, baked pota-
toes, green beans, rolls, coleslaw,
cucumbers, tomatoes and ice
cream dessert. Take out meals are
available. Meat can be purchased
at the pit for $9 a pound.
Proceeds from the dinner are
used to fund 4-H scholarships,
hall maintenance and other com-
munity needs as they arise. The
annual beef barbecue started in
1960, and has been held every
year since, except for last year,
due to the pandemic. Volun-
teers from 4-H, the community
and the grange make the event
possible.

celebrate
Oktoberfest
this weekend.
The Fern Hill Bluegrass Band will perform Sunday at the Birkenfeld Theatre in Clatskanie.
Bluegrass concert set for Sunday in Clatskanie
CLATSKANIE — The
Clatskanie Arts Commission’s
Performing Arts Series is return-
ing this fall. The Fern Hill Blue-
grass Band will perform with
the Bloomer Family at 3 p.m. on
Sunday in the Birkenfeld The-
atre in Clatskanie.
Fern Hill approaches its
bluegrass music in the style of
the classic bands of the 1950 s.
The Bloomer Family bluegrass
band plays with an emphasis on
old-fashioned American music,
with hard-driving instrumenta-
tion and homespun harmonies.

year’s Performing Arts Series

728-3403. Tickets held from
programs canceled because
of the pandemic will be hon-
ored but must be exchanged for
the same performance at least
a week before the new perfor-
mance date.

Brewing will
celebrate
Oktoberfest
SEAVIEW, Wash. — North Jetty
Brewing will hold a JettyFest event Sat-
urday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. to celebrate
Oktoberfest.
The brewery will launch the return of
Yellow Boots Kolsch at the event. The
celebration will include a stein hold-
ing contest with prizes and new specials
each hour.
The brewery is located on Washing-
ton’s Long Beach Peninsula.
