    Museum seeks volunteers
to preserve history
TILLAMOOK — The
Tillamook County Pioneer
Museum is looking for vol-
unteers to help with a large-
scale inventory project to
digitize records and cata-
logue its collection of 55,000
artifacts and 20,000 pictures.
The goal of the project
is to improve record keep-
ing and object storage to
make the historical collection
more accessible. Eventually
the museum will also need
to rehouse thousands of arti-
facts to a new location.
“This project is neces-
sary because at the moment
we don’t have a comprehen-
sive grasp on what we have
in our holdings and what sto-
ries they may be able to tell
about our community and

help with the fi rst phase of
the project, digitizing collec-
tions records. Anyone inter-
ested in volunteering to help
with data entry, is encour-
aged to contact exhibits@
tcpm.org.

founded in 1935 by Oregon
pioneers.
to work remotely with adult students,
most of whom are second language
learners.
Volunteers can expect to meet once
or twice each week for about an hour.
The coordinator will make sure the stu-
dents are ready to appear on Zoom, and
supplied with study materials.
Volunteers should have a computer
with a camera and microphone. Training
on conducting Zoom lessons and tutoring
adult students is available. If interested,

Photography duo wins Gearhart art award
GEARHART — The Trail’s End Art
Association has announced the annual judged
show winners.
Gearhart photography duo Randy and
Lena Burke won Best of Show in the 70th
annual judged show in August.
The duo’s work, “Kyoto Gardens,” taken
at a lush garden in Kyoto, Japan, was cho-
sen by this year’s judge, Frankie White, from
a large fi eld of artwork representing a variety
of mediums including oil, watercolor, mixed
media, metal, glass, wood and photography.
Artist Martha Urman’s beach scene “Pale
Winter Light” was chosen by Gearhart
Mayor Paulina Cockrum to receive the May-
or’s Award.
