Included in the 36 indi- vidual county winners, each of whom won $10,000, is Scott Jagger, of Clat- sop County. In addition to the county win- ners, there was one $1 million win- ner: Oregon State University stu- dent Chloe Zinda, of McMinnville, and fi ve $100,000 Oregon College Savings Plan education scholarship winners. The Astoria Regatta Association is holding the festival’s Seamen’s Memorial at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maritime Memorial Park. The event is to honor those who lost their lives on the water. It features a U.S. Coast Guard honor guard and the fi rst public introduction of Capt. Michael S. Jackson, Coast Guard Sec- tor Columbia River, who assumes command the day before and is pro- viding offi cial remarks. The program also includes a pre- sentation by Astoria Regatta Queen Annalyse Steele, and comments from Melissa Grothe, president of the Astoria Regatta Association, Mayor Bruce Jones, Columbia River Bar Pilots representative Capt. Joe Sohl- berg, commercial fi shing represen- tative Steve Fick and Kevin Leahy, emcee and past president of the Asto- ria Regatta Association. Chris Lynn Taylor is providing patriotic songs, and FisherPoet Mary Garvey will sing an original song. Later in the day, the Astoria Regat- ta’s Boat Parade begins at 5 p.m. on the Columbia River.
