A SPACE TO REIMAGINE JUNK Recycling nonprofit opens new storefront in Wheeler BY MALLORY GRUBEN For nearly 20 years, CARTM Recycling in Manzanita inspired the community to reimagine trash by reducing, reusing, recy- cling and rethinking their waste products. When its contract to operate the local transfer station ended, the nonprofit used those same skills to reimagine itself. The organization recently announced it will transform into the Heart of CARTM, a group that will carry on the nonprofit’s orig- inal mission to creatively reuse items that might otherwise be thrown away. A new storefront and workshop space for the group opened earlier this week in Wheeler. “We are just bringing it right back to its Mallory Gruben Heart of CARTM’s new Office of Reimagination with board president Jessi Just.
