Liberty Th eatre to host block party
ASTORIA — The Liberty Theatre will host a block
party from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 along 12th Street between
Commercial and Duane streets.
The event is in honor of the theater’s recent reopening.
Hot food, beer and wine will be served. Games for
children and live music will also be featured. Performers
include Brian Bovenzir & The New Old Stock at 4 p.m.,
Sparrow Dance Co. at 5 p.m. and The Builders & The
Butchers at 6 p.m.
Admission is free and open to all ages.
ASTORIA — Anyway you want it, you might just
dance at the Clatstop County Fair this weekend.
Country music and rock ‘n’ roll fans have the
chance to see two big-name musicians perform at the
fairgrounds Friday and Saturday night.
Christian country music artist Josh Turner, best
known for his hit songs “Long Black Train,” “Your
Man,” and “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” will be taking
the stage on Friday with special guest Jessie Leigh.
Steve Augeri is an American rock singer who
served as the lead vocalist for Journey from 1998
to 2006. The iconic rock band recorded “Remem-
ber Me,” for the “Armageddon” soundtrack in 1998
with Augeri. On Saturday he’ll perform material from
his career as well as new songs featuring The Steve
Augeri Band.
Gates open for both concerts at 6 p.m., and the
shows will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online
and at select local businesses.
