Trails members hold parade

Members of the North Coast Oregon
Equestrian Trails organization held a Fourth
of July parade at Northrup Creek Horse
Camp in Clatsop State Forest.
Grand Marshal Diane Berry led the
parade, honored for her work in organizing
the camp 15 years ago. The award for Best
Decorated Campsite went to Jennifer and
Michael Bunch. The award for Best Costume

Community Yard Sale — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in
was shared by two members: Ashley Lertora,
sporting butterfl y wings and red, white and
blue, mounted on “Blaze”; and Lisa Clapp,
leading her horse, “Tucker,” outfi tted in a ber-
ry-themed blanket and patriotic attire.
An assortment of horses, walkers, dogs
and kids completed the group as they walked
around the horse and tent camp sites waving
to campers lining the route.

The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Steadfast
and its crew has teamed up with the Astoria
Parks Department to pick up trash along the
Astoria Riverwalk starting at 10 a.m. Satur-
day. The crew will begin at the 17th Street
pier parking lot.
US Highway 101
cleanup in Nehalem set
NEHALEM — The Lower Nehalem
Community Trust is holding a U.S. High-
way 101 roadside cleanup on Saturday from
at 8:30 a.m. to noon or earlier.
Parking and check-in are at the intersec-
tion of U.S. Highway 101 and Oregon High-
way 53. The section of the highway between
the check-in location and just north of the
Nehalem River bridge is the focus of this
cleanup event.
Participants should be at least 16 years of
age, and are required to sign a waiver and
release.
The Oregon Department of Transporta-
tion and the Lower Nehalem Community
Trust will provide safety vests, garbage bags
and grabbers. Gloves are available, but par-

CASA holds benefi t raffl e
Tickets for the Clatsop County Court
Appointed Special Advocates Benefi t Raffl e
are on sale until 5 p.m. Aug. 29. A total of
500 tickets will be sold for $20 each. Tick-
ets will be entered into a drawing to win one
of seven raffl e baskets valued between $800
and $1,000 each. The fundraising goal is
$10,000.
The baskets feature products, services and
gift cards from several Clatsop County busi-
nesses. The prizes include a dinner for four
at Bridgewater Bistro; a one night stay at the
Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa; a couple’s mas-
sage from Allure Spa; a vehicle leveling kit
from OCD Performance & Off road; a cap-
tain’s membership package from the Colum-
bia River Maritime Museum; and more.
