Focusing forward Wildlife refuge recovers after theft, storms BY KATHERINE LACAZE After a winter of destructive storms and the theft of more than $35,000 worth of art, the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge is moving forward, starting with the reopen- ing of two key trails on the grounds. Over the winter, Cutthroat Climb Trail sustained serious storm damage that ren- dered the passage unusable. “We lost part of a hillside and many, many trees had come down,” said Jackie Ferrier, project leader with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
