Manzanita market
opens Friday
MANZANITA — The Manzanita
Farmers Market will be held weekly
from 4 to 7 p.m., starting Friday and
running until Sept. 17 at Underhill
Plaza, 635 Manzanita Ave.
A variety of vendors will be present.
Customer parking will be available in
the gravel lot on Manzanita Ave., across
the street from Manzanita Fresh Foods.
Applications are open to vendors on
a rolling basis at manzanitafarmersmar-

Finnish play available
to watch online
ASTORIA — Astor Street Opry Com-
pany and the Astoria Scandinavian Mid-
summer Festival Association will present a
virtual reader’s theater production Tuesday
through June 30. The play is available to
view for free starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday
at bit.ly/3uLLfmI
The show, “Love and Politics,” is a one-
act play written by A.T. and published in
1906 in Finland. The vintage piece was
found in the attic of Suomi Hall and trans-
lated by Sirpa Duoos. Actors recorded a
performance at Suomi Hall, directed by
ChrisLynn Taylor.
The play tells the tale of Mr. Ketonen, a
widower, who wants his daughter to marry
his best friend. Hilda, the daughter, doesn’t
want to marry her father’s friend because
she is in love with a local socialist leader,
even though her father hates socialists.
Seaside Museum reopens
SEASIDE — The Seaside Museum
will celebrate its reopening with a rib-
bon cutting at noon on Friday at the
museum, 570 Necanicum Blvd.
The museum’s reopening also
marks the opening of a special exhibit
by Oregon Historical Society, “Ore-
gon Voices.” The exhibit features five
three-sided pop-up kiosks that explore
some of the people, events and ideas
that have shaped Oregon and fought for
social change.
The museum is also featuring several
new exhibits both indoors at at the But-
terfield Cottage buildings.
The ribbon cutting is sponsored by
the Seaside Chamber of Commerce.
The museum will be open from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays and
Saturdays.
Sou’wester summer camps
open for sign-up
SEAVIEW — Registration is open
at souwesterlodge.com for two summer
camps hosted by Sou’wester Lodge.
During the camps, artists will lead
students through workshops in ceram-
ics, fiber arts, animation, mask making
and more.
The Sou’wester Summer Camp will
be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tues-
days, Wednesdays and Thursdays
between June 18 and Aug. 30. The camp
is open to ages 7 to 14. Registration
costs $200, plus a materials fee. Snacks
will be provided.
An adult program is also available
for ages 15 and older. The program runs
from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and costs $150,
plus a materials fee. Snacks will be
provided.
Concert set for Sunday
SEAVIEW — The Sou’wester
Historic Lodge will host musician
Corinne Sharlet for a concert from 8 to
9:30 p.m. on Sunday at the lodge, 3728
J Place.
The show will be appropriate for all
ages and is free to watch. Masks and
social distancing will be required.
Flamenco shows set
for Ilwaco, Astoria
Tickets are available for two upcom-
ing performances by Seattle-based fla-
menco dancer Savannah Fuentes, who
will perform on June 18 in Ilwaco at the
River City Theater and in Astoria on
June 19 at KALA Performance Space.
Tickets for the Ilwaco show are

The shows are part of Fuentes’
tour “Flores de Verano, Flamenco en
Vivo,” a program that celebrates rebirth
and new beginnings. Traditional fla-
menco musical forms and contemporary
themes will be featured. Fuentes will
be joined by singer and guitarist Diego
Amador Jr.

Photography exhibits open Saturday
ASTORIA — LightBox
Photographic Gallery will
open its new exhibit, “The
Fantastic Film Show” from
11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday
at the gallery, 1045 Marine
Drive.
The exhibit is a celebration
of the gallery’s anniversary.
The gallery opened on June
13, 2009. The exhibit features
photographic images made
from a variety of cameras.
The show will run until July
7. The exhibit features dozens
of photographers from across
the U.S.
Also featured is a second
exhibit, “A Banquet of Light,”
which features images by
photographer Jim Fitzgerald
of Vancouver, Washington.
The selection is a collection
of images from the Rockefel-
ler Forest in Humboldt Red-
woods of Northern California.
