Uniontown Memorial Day
service again goes virtual
The Astorian
The annual Memorial Day ser-
vice at the Maritime Memorial Park
is virtual again this year. Members
of the Uniontown Association and
the community prerecorded the
service, including a reading of the
names engraved on the wall, which
is being broadcast on KMUN 91.9
FM at 4 p.m. Monday.
This year’s event is dedicated to
LeRoy Adolphson, longtime board
member of the Uniontown Associ-
ation and steward of the Maritime
Memorial Park.
Community
members
are
encouraged to safely social dis-
tance along the Astoria waterfront
and continue the tradition of put-
ting fl owers in the Columbia R iver
as they remember their loved ones.
Astoria First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church, 349 Seventh
St., holds an in-person worship ser-
vice at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Social dis-
tancing is practiced, face coverings are
required and hand sanitizers are available.

Sunday school starts at 9:30 a.m. There
is no child care, but children are encour-

Land conservancy seeks comments
for accreditation renewal
The Astorian
The North Coast Land Conser-
vancy is applying for renewal of
accreditation, and a public com-
ment period is now open. The
Land Trust Accreditation Com-
mission, an independent program
of the Land Trust Alliance, con-
ducts an extensive review of each
applicant’s policies and programs.
The commission invites pub-
lic input and accepts signed, writ-
ten comments on pending appli-
cations. Comments must relate to
how the land conservancy com-
plies with national quality stan-
