Poet to speak at online event
ILWACO — A poet based on the
East Coast will read some of her work
during a virtual event at 7 p.m. on
May 28. To register, visit events.trl.
org
The event is a monthly poetry read-
ing hosted by the Peninsula Players
and the Ilwaco Timberland Regional
Library. The performing poet is
Joanna Bate Nadeau. She is the daugh-
ter of Barbara Bate, who works are a
mental health advocate on the Long
Beach Peninsula.
Nadeau will read some of her
poetry, which will be suitable for ages
18 and older.

to perform Saturday
SEAVIEW — The Sou’wester His-
toric Lodge will host Portland musi-
cian Lewi Longmire for a concert from
8 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday at the lodge,
3728 J Pl.
The show will be appropriate for all
ages and is free to watch. Masks and
social distancing will be required.
Registration open for Gearhart art classes
GEARHART — Registration is open
for in-person art workshops through Trail’s
End Art Association.
The workshops are scheduled from
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. between June 8 to June
11. Pre-registration is required. To register,

Artist Lynette Weise will lead the work-
shops, which include “Beginning Alcohol
Ink,” “Intermediate Alcohol Ink-Flowers,”
“Painting with Alcohol Ink,” and “Interme-
diate Colored Pencil.” Weise’s award-win-
ning art features detailed colored pencil and
alcohol ink drawings. Her work is shown in
regional galleries.
