Annual Cannon Beach art festival returns
Spring Unveiling Arts Festival
set for Friday to Monday
BY ISA KAUFMAN-GEBALLE
For longtime glass artist Jim Kingwell,
owner of Icefi re Glassworks, this year’s
upcoming Spring Unveiling Arts Festival
will mean a long-anticipated reunion with
the artist community he cherishes in Can-
non Beach.

“There are only a few times when all of
the galleries do come together to focus on
a particular theme to try to bring specifi c
energy to the town,” Kingwell said.
Since 2001, Cannon Beach galleries
have come together during the festival to
celebrate and display their featured artists’
latest works.
Last year’s festival went virtual due to
the coronavirus pandemic. Each gallery
showcased their featured artists’ work in
videos on Cannon Beach Gallery Group’s
website.
This year’s participating galleries will
feature a wide variety of artists, includ-
ing bronze sculpture artist Georgia Gerber,
wildlife artist Kathleen Sheard and painter
Jeff rey Hull, among others.
Though the festival typically attracts a
large audience, galleries will enforce social
distancing precautions. Gallery directors
will limit the amount of people in their gal-
leries and require visitors to wear masks
when inside.
“There won’t be large receptions with
food and wine as in the past but the art will
be as good as ever,” said Gary Hayes, a rep-
resentative of the Cannon Beach Gallery
Group.
