Auditions open for
‘Shanghaied in Astoria’ Art loft features April show

ASTORIA — Astor Street Opry Com-
pany is seeking actors and crew for its
37th annual “Shanghaied in Astoria” show,
which will run Aug. 6 through Sept. 5. To
audition, fi ll out the form at asocplay.com/
asoc-audition-form/.
The show is a “historical, hysterical
musical melodrama.” The show has enter-
tained audiences since the 1980s.
The show will be performed 14 times
total. Friday and Saturday showings will
be at 7 p.m., while Sunday shows will be at
2 p.m. All performances will be held at the
Astor Street Opry Company Playhouse, 129
W. Bond St.
Tickets will go on sale soon.

gallery show, available to view from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the art loft, 106
3rd St.
Featured artists include Vicky Combs-
Snider, Chelsie Montgomery, Jacquelyn

Combs-Snider creates realistic oil
paintings. Montgomery paints with
non-chemical resin, pigment powders and
acrylic paint. Hern paints with watercolors
and other mediums. Barendse-Adams cre-
ates pieces using pen, ink and watercolor.
