Against Nestucca, the Loggers came back from a 2-0 defi cit and won in fi ve, with Ramvick post- ing a career-high 13 kills with seven digs. A senior, Ramvick had 15 kills in a loss at Warrenton, then fi nished her week with 11 kills and three blocks to beat Neah-Kah-Nie, for 39 kills in three matches. A storia’s “Rocky & Bo Show” at quarterback gave Fishermen football their fi rst win since 2018, 38-13 over Tillamook March 12. Williams started and completed 8-of-12 passes with two touchdowns. Rub came on in relief and led Astoria in rushing yards. The two combined for 211 yards in total off ense and completed 11-of-19 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Knappa volleyball team outlasts Vernonia in fi ve sets The Astorian For the fourth time in six matches, the Knappa volleyball team had to go fi ve sets before a winner was decided. And for the second time, Knappa was the winner, as the Lady Log- gers won the “Logger Showdown” Thursday with a fi ve-set win at Ver- nonia, 25-21, 28-26, 16-25, 21-25, 15-11. The victory avenges a fi ve-set loss to Verno- nia to open the season March 2. With wins in sets three and four in Thurs- day’s match, Vernonia had the momentum before Knappa closed out Game 5 with a little momentum swing of its own. “The fi fth game of volleyball can go either way,” said Knappa coach Jeff Kaul. “Much of it determines who has the momentum and the best team chemistry at the start of the last game, and this time the scales tipped in Knappa’s favor.” Knappa built a 13-11 lead in the fi fth set, and even a Vernonia time- out did not help the home team, as Knappa took the fl oor and quickly scored the fi nal two points for the win. Hannah Dietrichs led the off ense with 15 kills while Victoria Ram- vick fi nished with 14 kills and eight blocks. Ava Skipper added 23 assists and 12 digs and Ashley Feldscher was 19-for-19 at the service line. Knappa plays a nonleague match Monday at Seaside. In other volleyball action Thurs- day, Valley Catholic swept Seaside, 25-9, 25-6, 25-11. Astoria at Banks was canceled. T ONGUE P OINT J OB C ORPS C ENTER C ELEBRATES S TAFF E XCELLENCE !
