    Historian to lecture on
Lewis and Clark Expedition
Agriculture-themed art
contest open to submissions
OREGON — Artwork is sought for
Oregon’s 38th annual Art About Agri-
culture competition and exhibition. Sub-
missions are due April 4 at agsci.ore-
gonstate.edu/art/art-about-agriculture.
Art About Agriculture is an annual
exhibition of agriculture-themed art-
work coordinated by Oregon State
ASTORIA — Lewis and Clark
National Historical Park’s monthly “In
Their Footsteps” lecture will be held vir-
tually at 1 p.m. Sunday at youtube.com/
user/Lewisandclarknhp.
David L. Nicandri will present
“Pacific Slope Prologues to Lewis &
Clark.” His presentation will focus on
the Lewis and Clark Expedition and how
the exploits of British explorers shaped
and confused the Corps of Discovery’s
journey.
Nicandri has studied and wrote about
Capt. James Cook and the Lewis and
Clark Expedition for nearly two decades.
He is a former director of the Washington
State Historical Society and the author of
“Captain Cook Rediscovered: Voyaging
to the Icy Latitudes” and “River of Prom-
ise: Lewis and Clark on the Columbia.”
University’s College of Agricultural
Sciences.
This year’s show will be a com-
petitive, juried exhibition. Submis-
sions should be art pieces about agricul-
ture. Artists from the Pacifi c Northwest
can submit art. All visual art styles and
approaches are eligible.

Fiber festival seeking participants
SKAMOKAWA — Coordinators for the
Farm to Fiber Festival is seeking volun-
teers, educators, committee members and
demonstrators for the festival, which will
be held Sept. 9 to 12 at Wahkiakum County
Fairgrounds.
The new festival will bring together fi ber
enthusiasts, youth and fi ber animal breed-
ers together for education, demonstrations,
sales and competitions.

Astoria Art Loft seeks exhibit entries
ASTORIA — Astoria Art Loft is accept-
ing entries for an upcoming exhibit.
Art should feature animals that are
extinct or endangered. Art can be submitted
by emailing astoriaartloft@gmail.com. Art
can be submitted in person by calling 503-
791-8444 by setting up an appointment.
Submissions are due Aug. 29 and will be
featured in a show during fall.
Artists are expected to pay a $15 entry fee.
