Symphony scholarships Washington parks available to students hiring seasonal staff The Southwest Washington Symphony is accepting scholarship applications for private music students until March 1 at swwasymphony.org. Scholarships will be distributed April 1. Students living in Cowlitz, Columbia, Clat- sop, Pacifi c and Wahkiakum counties can apply. Applicants must have had some prior musical training, either in school or through private study. Instrumental applicants must be enrolled in grades 5 to 12. Vocal music applicants must be in grades 8 to 12. Applicants are required to supply contact information for a person, such as a school music teacher or private instructor, who can attest to the seriousness of the applicant’s commitment. Washington State Parks is hiring sea- sonal park aides and senior park aides for parks throughout the state. More than 400 people will be hired to fi ll the positions. Employees regis- ter campers, maintain trails, clean camp- grounds and comfort stations, and com- plete custodial maintenance chores. Most positions last about fi ve to six months but employees have the opportu- nity to become full-time staff. Employees earn $14 to $21 per hour, depending on qualifi cations and experience. S Y S T E M Dance auditions open to youth WARRENTON — Dance auditions for tweens, teens and young adults will be held starting at 5 p.m. Monday at 737 East Har- bor Drive, for thE company, a contemporary dance company. The company is ran by Denele Sweet, owner of Encore Dance Studio in Warrenton. Dancers can audition for beginning, interme- diate and advanced groups. Beginning danc- ers will be given choreography during their audition, while intermediate and advanced dancers will learn their audition choreogra- phy on their own ahead of their auditions.
