NEHALEM — Registration for Alder
Creek Farm Community Garden opens Mon-
day for at bit.ly/38Z4LEG.
Registration will be a fi rst come, fi rst
serve basis. Registration costs $50. Some
scholarships are available to cover the fee.
The garden, a program of Lower Nehalem
Community Trust, operates through coop-
eration of its 40+ members. Garden mem-
bers commit to working at least three hours
a week. Food is harvested for members, the
North County Food Bank and Food Pantry.
Gardeners are expected to follow Ore-
gon’s coronavirus guidelines by social dis-
tancing and participating in pre-scheduled
gardening slots.

MANZANITA — Hoffman Center for
the Arts is hosting a poetry contest until
Jan. 31.
Participants can submit up to three
poems, of 30 lines or less, on any subject.
Submissions should be uploaded at hoff-
manarts.org along with a $7 entry fee.
The winning poem and poet will be
awarded $100, be featured in the Hoffman
Center Website and Newsletter in April, and
be published in the 2021 North Coast Squid
literary journal.
Each submitter must state a clear con-
nection to the North Oregon Coast in a
biographical statement that accompanies
the submission.
The winner will be notifi ed in March.
The contest is being judged by Lana Ayers,
who has been publishing the Concrete Wolf
Poetry Chapbook Series since 2001. In
2010, she created MoonPath Press to pub-
lish poetry collections by Pacifi c Northwest
poets. She has authored nine collections of
poetry and recently released her fi rst novel.
