Aft ernoon activity: See town
from a diff erent perspective
BY ALYSSA EVANS
If you’ve ever wanted to see a town from a diff erent vantage point, you can’t go
wrong with Astoria. There are numerous places throughout town and nearby
to get a gorgeous view, whether it’s of the Columbia River, the Astoria Bridge,
downtown or another spot altogether.
To see town in a new way, consider driving or hiking up toward the Astoria
Column. If you’ve already visited (which if you haven’t, you should), try fi nding
a spot that isn’t at the top of the hill but instead nearby, on Madison, Niagara or
Lexington avenues. All three, as well as surrounding streets, off er awe-worthy
views.
Other spots worth checking out include the areas near Tongue Point, the Astoria
Bridge and Youngs River.
