‘Unity in our community’ art
contest open to Warrenton residents
WARRENTON — Spruce Up Warren-
ton is hosting a “Whimsical Warrenton Art
Contest,” open to Warrenton residents.
The contest is open until 5 p.m. Sunday.
Entries should be sent to spruceupwarren-
ton@gmail.com.
The contest theme is “unity in our com-
munity.” Paintings, drawings, collages,
prints, digital illustrations and other two-di-
mensional art are eligible for entry.
The contest’s entries will be added to a
photo album on the Spruce Up Warrenton
Facebook page. Winners will be decided
based on how many “likes” the photo
receives by 5 p.m. June 1. Reactions on
shared posts will not count.
The contest’s winner will be given a $25
gift certifi cate to a Warrenton business of
their choice.
When entering, include your fi rst and
last name, mailing address and a photo of
your creation. Photo fi les should be 40 MB
or smaller. Only JPG and PNG fi les are
allowed. Individuals can send in multiple
entries but each entry should be sent in its
own email.

ASTORIA — Regionally-made fi lms are
available to watch at a weekly drive-in the-
ater, located at Heritage Square in Astoria
off of 12th and Duane Streets.
The theater is hosted by Astoria fi lm-
maker Jeff Daly, who is showing his fi lm,
“Helmet John: Astoria is Home.” The fi lm
features John Wedell, known locally as
“Helmet John,” an unhoused man living in
Astoria.
Other locally-made fi lms are occasion-
ally featured.
Viewings are scheduled through early
June. Pre-registration is required at bit.
ly/3cpi14R. Registration is free but attend-
ees are encouraged to make a donation,
which will go to the United Way and pro-
grams for people with disabilities.
