Lecture tackles communicating
during the coronavirus pandemic
Ales & Ideas will be online
ASTORIA — Clatsop Community
College’s monthly Ales and Ideas lecture
will be held virtually at 7 p.m. Thursday
at clatsopcc.zoom.us/j/92568436139.
Two of the college’s instructors,
Nancy Cook and Deac Guidi, will pres-
ent “Communication in the Time of
Corona.” The pair will talk about the
coronavirus’ impacts on oral and written
communication in classrooms, homes
and communities around the world.
Cook and Guidi’s talk will include a
multimedia slide presentation.
Talks are typically hosted at Fort
George Brewery’s Lovell Taproom.
Food and drinks from Fort George will
be available for pick-up by ordering
online at fortgeorgetogo.com. Orders for
same-day pickup must be placed before
1 p.m.

Streaming of Oregon fi lm
to support restaurants
Liberty Th eatre hosts virtual movies
ASTORIA — The Liberty Theatre is
hosting virtual movie screenings of clas-
sic fi lms.
The fi lms can be watched online by
purchasing a ticket through libertyastoria.
org for each fi lm. Film purchases benefi t
the theater.
The theater’s initial fi lm options
include “The Booksellers,” “Bacurau,”
“Zombi Child,” “The Estruscan
Smile,” and “Once Were Brothers.”
Other fi lms are expected to be available
in May.
The movies are available through a
partnership between movie studios, dis-
tributors, theaters and fi lmmakers.
The Oregon-made fi lm ‘Phoenix, Oregon’ will be shown
virtually Friday through Tuesday.

“Phoenix, Oregon ” will be
streamed at 5 p.m. Saturday
as a fundraiser for Oregon’s
restaurants.
The event is hosted by the
Oregon Hospitality Founda-
tion and Theatrical-At-Home.
Tickets to view the movie
cost $6.50. All proceeds
will be donated to Oregon
restaurants.
The fi lm tells the story of
two friends who quit their
jobs to restore an abandoned
bowling alley and serve
pizza. After the streaming,
the movie’s cast and crew
will participate in a live ques-
tion and answer session at
7 p.m.
The event will be available
to watch between May 8-12.
