As soon as the sun starts
to set and the colors begin
to change in the sky, West
and her husband, John, typ-
ically go take photos on the
beach.
Photography blos-
somed into a creative pas-
sion for West after she left
a job in customer service
about seven years ago. She
began by building her web-
site fi ve years ago and has
since joined Trail’s End Art
Association, where she has
been able to display and
sell her work.
West’s second show at
the gallery was put on dis-
play in March and featured
30 of her photographs. Her
show was cut short early
in March though, when the
association closed its doors
to protect visitors from
possibly spreading coro-
navirus. Her work will be
taken down when the gal-
lery re-opens.
“It’s sad that we have all
of this wonderful art hang-
ing from our talented mem-
bers, including my show,
that is now inaccessible,”
West said.
West’s portfo-
lio includes shots of the
coast’s beaches, vibrant
fl owers and occasional
portraits of Romeo, her
2-year-old cat.
In addition to captur-
ing images of nature, West
also creates photo collages.
Prior to moving out to the
coast, West grew her own
garden, which included
rows of fl owers.
“I would grow the fl ow-
ers, take pictures of them
and then put them in col-
lages and edit them so they
