Artists from Astoria High and Astoria Middle schools will present their work.
Children’s community art on tap
ASTORIA – Astoria High School and
Astoria Middle School’s art programs will
host “Artistry Abroad,” their fall art exhibit,
at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at Old Lum’s
Showroom, 1625 Exchange St.
Everyone is welcome – no tickets
necessary.
Over 175 artists from AHS and AMS
will be represented, featuring drawings,
paintings, pottery, multimedia artwork and
more.
A special light installation set up by the
Community Art Students will be featured.
Some pieces will be for sale, and pro-
ceeds will be split between the art programs
and the individual artists.
Dive into ocean fi lms with ‘Ocean Shorts’
MANZANITA – The fi nal fall screen-
ing of “Ocean Shorts,” part of the Wander-
ing Reel Traveling Film Fest, will happen at
7:30 p.m on Friday at the Hoffman Center
for the Arts, 594 Laneda Ave. Tickets are $5
at the door.
Friends of Cape Falcon Marine Reserve
present “Ocean Shorts,” a compilation of
short fi lms focused on themes of the ocean,
sand and the preciousness of the natural
environment through different cinematic
styles and mediums including sand and salt
animation, experimental and documentary
fi lmmaking.
Shorts include “A Tangled Tale,”
“Ocean,” “The Crossing,” “The Coast,”
“Oceanscape Network Video on Ore-
gon Marine Sanctuaries,” “Beavers and
Salmon” and “Wild Possibilities – The Oys-
ter Story.”
“Ocean Shorts” will be followed by a
special presentation of “The Old Man and
the Mountain Lion,” a short fi lm by fi lm
