WARRENTON — The 14th annual ScrapHunger event — a scrapbooking, crafting and card-making fundraiser to help feed those in need — takes place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Warren- ton Grade School, 820 S.W. Cedar Ave. All are welcome to join in a day filled with prize drawings, games, demonstra- tions, make-and-takes and fun. Those attending can also make cards in support of Ronald McDonald House, and support Life Story Albums through donations of craft and scrapbook materials, along with leftovers, for the foster program at the local Department of Human Services office. For entry, and to receive two raffle tick- ets for a chance to win one of the prizes donated by local businesses, bring eight nonperishable food items, craft projects and a soft pillow for seating. For every three additional food items brought, there is another chance to win. In addition, each toy given in support of Toys for Tots is worth two raffle tickets for a special drawing. Lunch is provided by Subway, snacks and dinner by the McKune family. For information, contact Brenda McK- une at 503-861-8126 or brendamckune@ live.com George Award nominees sought The annual George Award and Rich- ard Ford Distinguished Service Award recognize citizens in Astoria and Warren- ton who give extraordinary service to the community. The George Award honors someone who has consistently stepped forward to meet community needs instead of “letting George do it.” The Richard Ford Distinguished Ser- vice Award, given to a person who has devoted time and energy in countless ways to the community, is named after the late Richard Ford, a Warrenton resident who volunteered much of his free time helping his neighbors. The award winners will be announced during the Astoria-Warrenton Area Cham- ber of Commerce annual Meeting and Banquet on Jan. 25. Nominations for both awards are being accepted until 5 p.m. Nov. 30. Shred day set for Saturday SEASIDE — ID Protection Day, a free document shredding event, is being held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the North Coast Family Fellowship parking lot, 2245 N. Wahanna Road, Seaside. Canned food and donations are wel- come, and will benefit the Clatsop Com- munity Action Regional Food Bank, which serves all of Clatsop County. Clatsop Care Health District celebrates 40-year anniversary The Astorian Clatsop Care Health District is celebrat- ing its 40-year anniversary with a block party on Saturday in front of Clatsop Care Health and Rehabilitation Center. It is a free, family-friendly event with food, local entertainment, pumpkin decorat- ing and other games. The health district’s facilities and services include Clatsop Care Health and Rehabilita- tion, Clatsop Care Retirement Village, Clat- sop Care Memory Community and Clatsop Care In-home Services. SEASIDE — Spiritual Communities in Partnership meets at 8:30 a.m. Tues- day at the Riley’s Restaurant, 1104 S.
