COMMUNITY IN BRIEF Remembering Westport reunion set for Sept. 7 WESTPORT — The Remembering Westport annual reunion is being held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. or later Sept. 7 at the Westport Community Church Fellowship Hall (the old grade school), 49246 U.S. Highway 30. There is plenty of parking, and the event is handicapped accessible. A hamburger lunch with drinks is being served for $5, and those attending are asked to bring finger foods and des- erts, as well as photos and/or memorabilia to share. Books about Westport will also be available to purchase from the Clatsop County Historical Society (cash or check only). Seaside Rotary Foundation hosts dinner and auction SEASIDE — The Seaside Rotary Foundation annual Dinner and Auction starts at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Sea- side Civic and Convention Center, 415 First Ave. The theme this year is “Tailgate with Team Rotary — Seaside.” This is the foundation’s single largest fundraiser of the year, and makes is possible for the foundation to assist in serving the needs of not only the local community, but also worldwide. A key component of the dinner/auc- tion is live auction packages that can be bid on. Some examples this year include: a New York experience for two, with tick- ets to the Jimmy Fallon show and the Broadway musical “Aladdin,” with a back stage tour; four tickets to the Oregon-Or- egon State Civil War game; a traditional Spanish paella dinner for eight; and doz- ens of silent auction items donated by area businesses. Candlelight vigil set for Saturday An International Overdose Awareness Day Candlelight Vigil and ceremony, to remember those who have lost their lives to the disease of addiction, takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Columbia River Maritime Museum, 1792 Marine Drive, on the east side of the parking lot. Those attending should bring their own chair or blanket and a photo of their loved one (if so desired). Glow sticks may be be used, and phone lights, but no actual flames.
