WILLIS VAN DUSEN
CRAIG HOPPES
Willis Van Dusen is one of Astoria’s
most prominent citizens and vocal
advocates. He is a fifth-generation
Astorian and served as mayor of Astoria
for 24 years from 1991 to 2014. He and his
wife, Jan, have five grown children — all
of whom still live in Astoria.
He is president of Van Dusen
Beverages, Oregon’s oldest family
business. He is also president of the Mt.
Angel Beverage Co. Van Dusen was twice
honored with the Astoria-Warrenton
Chamber of Commerce’s George Award
for his contributions to the community.
Van Dusen is active in a number of
nonprofits, including serving as president
of the Astoria Riverfront Trolley
Association, and serving on the board of
the Columbia River Maritime Museum. He
also chaired the Columbia Memorial
Hospital Foundation committee that
raised $3 million to build the CMH-OHSU
Knight Cancer Collaborative.

Craig Hoppes has lived in Astoria for
more than 22 years. Hoppes has been
superintendent for the Astoria School
District for more than 12 years, and has
worked in the school district for the past
22 years. Along with being a board
member for the Lower Columbia
Hispanic Council and the Clatsop County
Historical Society, he is the past
president of the Astoria Rotary Club and
Astoria Lions Club.
Hoppes lives in Astoria with his wife,
Jolene. Their two grown children,
Frankie and Kelsie, are both graduates of
Astoria High School. Hoppes enjoys
living in the Astoria area and spending
time outside on the coast.
