Juggling camp for kids scheduled in Seaside Photo courtesy Trails End Art SEASIDE — A juggling camp for kids entering 4th through 8th grade will be offered in Seaside in July. The camp will be led by Bob Evans, the physical education teacher at Gear- hart Elementary School. He is a Guinness World Record holder and Ameri- ca’s Got Talent contestant, both for juggling. Campers will learn the basics of juggling, receive an introduction to partner/ group juggling and have opportunities to experience a wide variety of other cir- cus skills and tricks. There will be a max- imum of 12 campers to ensure quality one-on-one instruction. Sessions are sched- uled 8-10 a.m. July 8-12 and July 15-19 at the Mary Blake Playhouse (next to the Seaside Library). Cost is $120 for one ses- sion, $180 for both. Each camper will receive a set of three high-quality jug- gling balls ($36 value), a practice journal, resources for continued learning and a part in the camp highlight video. Art camp for kids off ered in Gearhart GEARHART — Trail’s End Art Association is offering a one-week camp July 22-26 for kids between 2nd and 8th grade. The camp will explore art media through a com- bination of classroom and hands-on experiences. Children will be encour- aged to work at their own pace, within instructor parameters, to create sev- eral pieces. Finished works will include — but are not limited to — a paper bowl, a hand-decorated wooden box with a sculptured top, watercolor-rendered ani- mal paintings, graffi ti art and fused glass based on O’Keefe, Mondrian Matisse and Yoyo Kusama. Weather permitting, sun-painting and additional mark-making techniques requiring sunny weather will also be explored. ASTORIA — Wild- life Center of the North Coast is offering its fi rst- ever Junior Naturalists Summer Camp for kids July 22-26. Students entering 3rd and 4th grade who want to learn about animals and discover the out- doors are welcome. The facility, set on 105 acres, is a working rehabilita- tion center for local ani- mals and provides an eco-rich landscape for campers to explore. Campers will visit wetlands, forests and other habitats and learn about the animals and plants that call these eco- systems home. They will have the opportunity to design and create models of animal adaptations, write and draw about living things native to the Pacifi c Northwest and play games to fi nd out more about local species.
