Do you like to eat? Do you like trying new
foods? Do you like to fi nd special and unique
items? Do you like to get your Christmas
shopping done early?
If any of the above apply to you, than you
defi nitely need to come to the Astoria Scandi-

You will get to try some delicious and tra-

amazing for yourself.
For the savory food connoisseur we’ll
have Swedish meatballs cooked to perfec-
tion as well as pocket sandwiches fi lled with
crab, salmon, or ham and cheese, or try one
fi lled with veggies. How about a cup of clam
chowder or Swedish pea soup? We have that,
too! Frikadeller you ask? Yep, you’ll fi nd it
here. Also on the menu are hot dogs, Polish
dogs, pulled pork sandwiches and open-faced
sandwiches.
For those of you with that good ol’ sweet
tooth, don’t fret! You will have quite the
assortment of goodies to choose from includ-
ing freshly made aebleskivers sprinkled with
powdered sugar and served with raspberry
jam and the infamous lefse — no description
necessary — just yummy!
What about trying some Finnish fruit
soup — a dish that delights many taste buds.
Another favorite treat is krumkake — a light,
fl akey cone-shaped cookie.
Also being served is cardamom bread. If
you haven’t tried this bread, you’re defi nitely
missing out.
And let’s not forget chimnik — the refresh-
ing ice cream treat.
As you can see, whether it’s the savory or
sweet food you want to experience, visitors
to the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Fes-
tival will have a smorgasbord to choose from.
If you care to have a beverage of the alco-
holic kind, Rolling River will sell aquavit spir-
its in the Arena and a Beer Garden is located
outdoors in the storage building, beyond the
Dairy Barn, and will sell handcrafted bever-
ages from Astoria Brewing.
We also have an amazing assortment of
Scandinavian-themed vendors this year.
There are many items to choose from
including: wooden Viking weapons and
shields, handmade wooden puzzles, art work,
paintings, Scandinavian décor, children’s and
adult clothing, knick-knacks, baskets, quilling
decor, jewelry, handmade Scandinavian items,
rosemaling, household items, hardanger, pot-
tery and so much more.
Come to the Midsummer Festival to
check them out for yourself! You won’t be
disappointed.
