WELCOME!
elkommen, Tervetuloa,
Velkominn
On behalf of the
Astoria Scandinavian Heri-
tage Association, we would like
to welcome you to the 52nd
Annual Astoria Scandinavian
Midsummer Festival. As we
approach the longest day of the
year, the beginning of summer,
please come and enjoy this cel-
ebration of heritage, tradition,
family, food and fun! The Festi-
val is held at the Clatsop County
Fairgrounds 2 p.m. Friday, June
21, through 4 p.m. Sunday, June
23.
Come honor the traditions of
our immigrant forebears who
left their Nordic homelands to
settle in the Pacifi c Northwest.
Many booths of traditional
Scandinavian foods, arts and
crafts and specialties presented
by artisans and local Scandi-
navian Lodges will be featured
throughout the weekend.
On Friday evening celebrate
V
Artwork by Ronni Harris
the crowning of Miss Scandina-
via 2019. Join in the hex burn-
ing to ensure good luck for the
coming year and then dance the
night away at the Queens Ball.
Saturday is full of musi-
cal and dancing entertainment,
games, eating contests, show-
cased national folk wear, fl ag
raising, Optog walking parade,
raising of the Midsummer pole,
Barnefest and fun for all ages.
Be sure to watch out for the
Troll! Many opportunities to
learn about the heritage of days
past can be found through sto-
ries, lectures and the Sunday
Church service.
We invite you to join us!
So come on out and visit with
family, friends and neighbors at
the Astoria Scandinavian Mid-
summer Festival! We are look-
ing forward to seeing you.
Takk skal du ha! Thank You!
