Dance Studio
holds annual
recital at AHS
ASTORIA – Maddox Dance Studio’s annual dance
recital will be held at 2 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June
15, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at the Astoria High
School Auditorium, 1001 West Marine Drive.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for seniors
age 65+ and students ages 6-12. All children six and
under free.
Saturday’s 2 p.m. performance features the young
intermediate students to advanced teens and young
adults.
The show includes a lively Can Can by Little Bal-
let Theatre dancers and “Why We Tell the Story” from
Once Upon an Island, plus a nostalgic look into the his-
tory of tap dance in “Waltz Clog.”
The evening performance will highlight pre-teens
through adult dancers in Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Bal-
let, Tap and Acro-dance and features contemporary
dancers in “White Winter Hymnal,” the Main Street
Tappers in “On Broadway” and the senior Musical The-
ater in “The Boy From New York City.”
Graduating AHS senior Nara Van De Grift will be
introduced at this performance and will be accompanied
by her parents.
The third performance showcases the talents of the
Creative Movement classes (ages 3-6) as they show
their progress in ballet and tap. It will also include the
Little Ballet Theatre
dancers in a classical variation of “The Waltz in E
Minor.”
Senior tap dancers will also perform “Singing in the
Rain.”
