Ham delivers a
Shakespearean satire
ASTORIA — “Thirteenth
Night, or Whatever You Say,”
a Shakespearean pastiche by
William Ham, is the next pre-
sentation in the TEN-FIF-
TEEN series created by Pier
Pressure Productions. It
can be seen 10:15 a.m. and
10:15 p.m. on Friday, March
15, at 1015 Commercial St.
Ham is a playwright,
actor, KMUN program-
mer and Pier Pressure board
member. This short play pre-
miered as part of the year-end
festivities at Plimoth Planta-
tion 23 years ago, when Ham
made his living as a 40-hour-
a-week Pilgrim. It was per-
formed by the playwright as
a monologue at the Pier’s lit-
tle theater on 10th Street in
2010-11.

TEN-FIFTEEN will give
the public a quick view of
the show before it appears in
its full-length version a year
from now on the completed
Pier Pressure stage.
This is a one-day-
only event. Donations are

ARCH CAPE — The
community is invited to
a free presentation on
the acquisition plan for
the Arch Cape Forest,
11 a.m. to noon Saturday,
March 16, at the Arch
Cape Fire Station, 79729
U.S. Highway 101.
Ben Dair, senior
finance manager of Sus-
tainable Northwest, will
give an update on the
progress toward the pro-
posed community forest
acquisition. He will give
an overview of the grant
funding sources applied
for so far, as well as gap
financing.

Riverbend Players latest
production, the romantic
comedy “Four Weddings
and an Elvis,” run 7 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, March
15 and 16, and Saturday,
March 23; and 2 p.m. Sun-
days, March 17 and 24.
Performances take place
at the North County Rec-
reation District Performing
Arts Center, 36155 Ninth
St.
This rollicking show
features a not-so-lucky-in-
love wedding chapel owner
in Las Vegas, and four
of the funniest weddings
in her chapel. Written by
Nancy Frick and directed
Domestic Water Supply
District is seeking to pur-
chase the watershed that
supplies the drinking water
for the community of Arch
Cape. The watershed would
then become a community
forest, managed for clean,
safe and affordable drink-
ing water.

and the upcoming volun-
teer Scotch broom control
event planned for Saturday,

Portland’s Nariko Ott
headlines comedy night
ASTORIA — The Labor
Temple’s monthly com-
edy night, Cheap Whiskey
and Dirty Jokes, brings the
best comics from around
the Pacific Northwest. This
month’s event takes place
8:30 p.m. Friday, March 15.
The host is Chad Alan
Gemma; the headliner is
Nariko Ott. Other comedians
include John Gallucci, Rach-
elle Cochran, Jake Breslauer
and Micah Dugan.
There will be a $5 cover
for this 21+ show. Doors
open at 8 p.m. The show con-
tains adult content.
Ott is Portland’s Funni-
est Person of 2016. He is on
“Laughs” on FOX, “Unpro-
tected Sets” on EPIX, and is
a writer for The Hard Times
and host of the history/pop
culture podcast “What’s
More Metal?”
Dugan is a comic, jour-
nalist, poet and pop culturist.
You may know him from his
pop-up Asian food cart “side
wok” and numerous appear-
ances in print ... on-the-record
and elsewhere.
Breslauer has performed
standup across the coun-
try. He’s had numerous arti-
cles published in the Huff-
ington Post under his blog
titled “Satirical Nonsense.”
He lives in Portland and
tours regularly as a standup
comedian.
Cochran has shared her
observational comedy and
boundless energy at Seattle’s
Highlarious Comedy Festival,
Sacramento’s Comedy Fes-
tival and Harvey’s Comedy
Club. She was recently recog-
nized by a waiter at 10 Barrel
as “that one who didn’t do so
bad” at Portland’s Funniest.
