ASTORIA — The next Repair Cafe takes place 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 1010 Duane St. Repair Cafe is a com- munity of volunteers who repair, sew, sharpen and give expert advice on pretty much anything that is broken, torn, dull or in need of repair. At our monthly event we work on bicycles, toys, clothing, scissors, knives, household appliances, garden tools or just something that needs to be glued (no gas engines). At 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, Seaside Muse- um’s History & Hops pres- ents author Jim Aalberg at Seaside Brewing Co. as he shares stories from his book, “Historical Company Towns of Clatsop County.” Aalberg describes how the people connected to Brad- wood, Wauna and Westport remember an almost idyllic existence — one fi lled with Patrick Webb hard work but also with a deep sense of community. Aalberg, a retired senior executive for the Kroger Co., is an amateur histo- rian and writer as well as a fourth-generation Orego- nian and the great-great- great-grandson of West- port’s founder, Captain John West.
