B2 THE DAILY ASTORIAN • FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 2019 Astoria DAR offers children Youth Explorer Activity The Daily Astorian The Astoria Chapter, Daughters of the Ameri- can Revolution, invites all elementary school children from Knappa to Tillamook to participate in a Youth Explorer Activity, begin- ning now, with a deadline of April 5. A winner from each par- ticipating school will be selected based on the num- ber of historical sites visited, and the contents of their his- toric site paragraphs. Elementary school age children, with the help of their parents or guardians, are asked to visit as many historical sites in their com- munities and counties as they can before the activity deadline. Students are asked to take their photo with each landmark, for as many sites as possible, then write a short paragraph for each site telling what they learned, and why the site was interesting. RELIGION BRIEFS INTERFAITH PARTNERSHIP A certifi cate will be given to each participant. One winning student will be chosen from each par- ticipating school or home school district, and will be given an admission ticket to a Clatsop County museum. For information, go to pacuuf.org Transit district offers grant opportunities The Daily Astorian Sunset Empire Trans- portation District (SETD) announces the opportunity for eligible parties within Clatsop County to apply for funding through a discre- tionary Special Transpor- tation Fund (STF) program and a separate 5310 pro- gram for Enhanced Mobility for older adults and individ- uals with disabilities being offered through the Oregon Department of Transporta- tion Funds. These grants are being awarded in 2019. Eligible parties include: counties, cities, trans- portation districts, pub- lic or private agencies, fed- erally recognized Indian tribes, individuals, or any of these joined in cooperative agreements. Only applications that provide transportation ser- vices for seniors and per- sons with disabilities will be considered.
