The event takes place Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Fort George Lovell Showroom. College President Chris Breitmeyer will moderate a discussion with Astoria’s new mayor, Bruce Jones, and OSU Extension coastal hazards specialist Pat Corcoran. Jones led the Coast Guard’s aviation rescue op- erations over New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. He will share lessons from that disaster, including thoughts about how Astoria should learn from other communities to prepare for a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake. MANZANITA — Patti Dobrowolski will present “Draw Your Future: How a Simple Picture Will Change Everything” at the Hoffman Center for the Arts in Man- zanita, 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29. Learn a simple, visual, goal-setting process that, no matter your age, you can immediately use to help yourself turn vision into reality. And you don’t even need to know how to draw. The workshop fee is $25, which includes a copy of Dobrowolski’s new book, “9 Tips to Up Your Cre- ative Genius.” There will be a book signing after the workshop.
