Contra Dance takes place 7 to 10
p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the Arts &
Movement Center, at Commercial
and 10th streets.
A beginner’s lesson takes
place at 7 p.m.
There will be live music by
Gabrielle Macrae and Barry
Southern of The Horsenecks,
Luke Ydstie and Kati Claborn.
Dave Ambrose will call the
dances.
All ages and skill levels are
welcome. Admission is $5 to $10.
Children under 12 are admitted

Symphony, Warrenton choirs celebrate
the season in song at the Liberty Theatre
ASTORIA — The Columbia
River Symphony presents a
free holiday concert at the
Liberty Theatre, 7 p.m. Sat-
urday, Dec. 8, titled “Noel.”
Doors open at 6 p.m.; seats
are expected to fill up fast.
Performing in conjunction
with the Warrenton middle
and high school choirs,
the three ensembles will
celebrate the holidays with
symphonic and choral music.
The concert is free, but
donations are welcomed and
will be split between the Co-
lumbia River Symphony and
Warrenton School District
music program.
Refreshments will be
provided during intermission.
Bring your camera, as photo
opportunities with Santa and
his sleigh will be available
in the lobby during intermis-
sion, and at the end of the
program.
Musical selections
include “Suite of Carols,”
Mendelssohn’s “Hark! The
Herald Angels Sing,” “White
Christmas” and “Tidings
of Comfort & Joy,” and a
Warrenton middle and high
school combined selection
titled “Remembering Decem-
bers.”
Led by conductor Cory
Pederson, Columbia River
Symphony is an all-volun-
teer, nonprofit performing
arts group.
