St. Mary, Star of the Sea Parish
Broadway Middle School
Broadway Middle School in Seaside has traditionally held a food drive to create baskets to give families in need for the
Thanksgiving holiday. This year, the food drive had a school-wide goal of bringing in 700 pounds, all to be donated to
the Clatsop County Regional Food Bank.
The sixth-grade class brought in an estimated 600 pounds of food, while the seventh- and eighth-grade classes brought
in approximately 500 pounds of food.
“The students did an outstanding job this year,” Natalie Osburn, principal of the school, said. “We are so thankful to our
families for their support of our food drive, and our students, in this effort to give back to the community.”
Dr. Robbie Law, Astoria, named Community Star
The Daily Astorian
Dr. Robbie Law, family
physician at the Lower Colum-
bia Clinic in Astoria, has been
named a Community Star by
the National Organization of
State Offices of Rural Health.
The member organization
serves all 50 State Offices of
Rural Health, including the
Oregon Office of Rural Health
at Oregon Health and Science
University.
On the third Thursday of
November every year, the
national group leads National
Rural Health Day, a day of
recognition for those who
serve the health needs of peo-
ple residing in America’s rural
communities.
In 2015, the state groups
were asked to nominate those
on the front lines of rural
health who were making a pos-
itive impact on rural lives.
Soon after, the book
of National Rural Health
Day Community Stars was
published.
Law will appear in the 2018
edition of the book, available
at PowerofRural.org.
The Oregon Office of Rural
Health believes he is a true
