ASTORIA — The next Astoria Second Saturday Art Walk
takes place 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13 with merriment and refresh-
ments galore! (Some locations opens and close earlier and
later.)

From 1 to 4 p.m., the Art Loft will feature
nautical paintings including ships, river
and seascapes by Stan Riedesel and dot
painting by Chimoyo. Wood sculpture,
fused glass and more beautiful art are
available for a visual feast.

Presenting Marc Boone of Ocean Park,
Wash. For “Shaman’s Way,” he brings
a series of oil paintings exploring
through metaphor the late great jazz
artists for which he’s had a lifelong
love.

Now showing a series of smaller
works in oil and water-based paints.
The rest of the show will consist of
paintings, as yet unviewed, and some
of the stronger paintings from the last
three art walks.

Cargo is doing its annual Mexican Day
of the Dead altar, including lots of
Halloween decorations and fun folk
art from Mexico.

Presenting portrait-based art of
painter Jane Terzis in “Learning to
Live in the World.” In this collection of
fictitious character studies, Terzis’ sub-
jects are primarily children or scenes
from childhood that are universally
ageless.

“Sky Touching Down” is a mixed-me-
dia presentation of earth, tree and
sky masks by Lucca Ettienne. It is a
fun and fanciful show of masks that
embody natural mystery that we may
otherwise miss.

heart through intricate, etched lines
of intaglio printmaking.

Astor Building is opening its doors.
Built in 1921, the Astor Building has
undergone many changes and its
history can be felt and seen in every
part of this space.

past and celebrating the present with
Astoria-inspired drawings.

In an exhibit offered through a
partnership with Recology Western
Oregon and Astoria Visual Arts, three
artists-in-residence — Cara Mico,
Wenda Vorce and Stephen Shumaker
— showcase art created using scav-
enged, discarded materials collected
from the Astoria Transfer Station.

Thirteen artists and a working mosaic
studio! Come check out the work of
featured artist Carol Edwards. Alcohol
paint, ceramic masks and fused glass
pieces are only some of the elements
she uses in her mosaics. We also have
new watercolors by Jacquelyn Hern.
