They lived in the back of the store for
seven years. While Jean rented rooms
in the hotel and operated the gift shop,
Bud worked two jobs: selling cars at
a local Ford dealership and selling
furnaces for an oil distributor.

their inventory, and soon they became

1919. Harvey K.
Loop also purchased Donnerberg Jewelry, owned by
Frank Donnerberg, consolidating the two stores into
one store, located in the Astor Building. The store was
moved to its present location in 1961. Richard and Es-
tel Van Winkle bought the store on April 1, 1977. Their
son Frank now runs the business.
The Van Winkles sell and repair jewelry and clocks.
They carry Black Hills gold, pearls, sterling silver and
14kt. gold jewelry. House calls are available for Grand
father clocks and clock repairs.
They do custom engraving on metals and plastic for
trophies, engrave name tags and inside ring engraving.
Frank designs pendants, rings, bracelets and earrings
for the store. Judy restrings and knots those broken
strands of pearls or beads.

nizations in the Seaside schools. Bud,
Peter and Jeff have had associations
with the Seaside Downtown Devel-
opment Association and The Seaside
Chamber of Commerce (all three had a

With the business Jean, Jeff & Pavi are
able to work and contribute with the
Assistance League Columbia Pacific to
help clothe children in the county. Pavi
is an active member in Assistance
League.
“It’s important not only for us to let
our customers have a good shopping
experience, but we’re also like a mini
chamber of commerce,” Jeff said.
“People need to know we have an
aquarium, a two-mile Prom and where
to get seafood.”
