Kayakers rescued near Cape Disappointment The Daily Astorian Five kayakers near Waikiki Beach in Cape Disappoint- ment State Park were rescued Wednesday after capsizing. The two adults and three children, who were wearing life jackets, were in 58-degree water with 2-foot swells. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria responded along with a 29-foot response boat from Station Cape Disappointment. The helicopter crew res- cued one child while the oth- ers were taken aboard the boat. All five people were taken to Ocean Beach Hospital. They were in stable condition and did not appear to have any visible injuries, according to the Coast Guard.
