ASTORIA — Astoria’s North
Coast Chorale is delighted to
present a concert by the Port-
land Gay Men’s Chorus. The
group will perform 3 p.m. Sat-
urday, June 30, at Astoria High
School’s auditorium. Admission
will be $15 at the door; children
under 12 are admitted free with
an adult.
The chorus will be singing
selections from their “United
States of Broadway” Pride con-
cert. If you like show tunes, you
won’t want to miss this show.
The Gay Men’s Chorus
first appeared in April of 1980,
performing as part of Portland’s
Gay Pride Festival that year.
The group seeks to “expend,
redefine and perfect the choral
art through eclectic performanc-
es that honor and uplift the
gay community and affirm the
worth of all people.”
The Chorus has appeared at
both national and international
venues.
All proceeds from this event
will go toward the Clatsop
Community College Perform-
ing Arts Center, reflecting the
Chorus’ big heart and commu-
nity focus.

Country music star rocks Relay for Life
SEASIDE — “Rockin Out Cancer,” a benefit
for Clatsop County’s 25th Relay for Life
featuring country music star Ty Herndon,
takes place Saturday, July 7, at Seaside High
School. The event is free and open to all.
Capt. Jack Sparrow’s “cousin” emcees.
Enjoy live music at 5 p.m., a silent
auction, photo booth, great food, family fun,
hair-cutting and themed laps. Herndon’s
autographed guitar will be in the silent auc-
tion. The event kicks off at 10 a.m., and the
Luminary Ceremony is at 10 p.m.
Donations will be accepted for those
fighting cancer in Clatsop County, and a
canned food drive benefits the County
Regional Food Bank.
This year’s event is dedicated to Doug Parvi,
who lost his battle to lung cancer in October.
Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser
for the American Cancer Society. Remember
loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers
and make a global impact on cancer.
