Caption: Renewal of Local
Option Levy (Fire Chief Levy)
Question: Shall Cannon
Beach RFPD levy $0.19 per
$1000 AV for five-years be-
ginning in 2019-2020 to con-
tinue Fire Chief position? This
measure renews current local
option taxes.
Summary: This measure may
be passed only at an election
with at least a 50 percent voter
turnout.
This measure would impose
a five-year local option tax by
Cannon Beach RFPD con-
tinuing to pay salary, training,
vehicle, administrative costs
required for the position of
full-time District Fire Chief.
The Fire Chief directs 25
firefighter volunteers, who re-
spond to approximately 430
calls annually within Cannon
Beach, Cove Beach, Falcon
Cove, and Arch Cape. These
calls include fire response,
emergency
medical
re-
sponse, cliff rescue, surf res-
cue, vehicle extrication, and
hazardous material incidents.
The Fire Chief manages the
District worth over 1.1 billion;
being in compliance with state

fire apparatus, equipment,
and stations valued at over
$6.5 million. Estimated total

ment discounts, compression
