NETS ON

By COLIN MURPHEY

Tim Becken takes his salmon fishing boat out on Youngs Bay.
W
hen the salmon season started several months back, Tim Becken of Astoria said there were
nearly 40 boats on Youngs Bay competing for the prized delicacy. That dwindled to four last
week. Salmon fishing continues to be a tough business. As he reeled in the latest catch, he could
be heard whispering “here fishy, fishy, fishy.”
