Recess
Food Cart
reopens in
Tillamook
TILLAMOOK — Recess food cart
has reopened in a new location
just south of the Fred Meyer
store at 1910 Main Ave. N. on
U.S. Highway 101 in Tilla-
mook.
The cart is open 11 a.m. to 7
p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The Recess menu features
flame-grilled burgers, wraps,
salads, hand-cut fries from
fresh potatoes and homemade
desserts. Every menu item has
a playful, recess-themed name
and is homemade with many
locally-sourced ingredients.
Recess has a wide variety of
menu choices, including veg-
etarian, vegan and gluten-free
items.
“We’re extremely grateful to
reopen — we’ve been getting
ready for this new, larger cart
and location for months now,”
co-owner Brooke Nitzsche said.
“We’ve kept all of our custom-
er favorites, like our King of
the Playground Burger, Four-
square Waffle, Miss Mary Mac
Macaroni and Cheese and Kick
the Can Cobb Salad, and we’ve
added some new items to the
menu, like the Duck Duck Dog
along with gluten-free, vegetari-
an and vegan choices.”
Co-owner Jen Hilger said,
“Recess before and now has
always been a labor of love.”
She added: “The community not
only loved our food when we
were open the first time, but re-
ally rallied around as we faced
the many challenges of reopen-
ing here in our new location.”
Both Hilger and Nitzsche
agree that they couldn’t have
done any of it without commu-
nity support. “We are tremen-
dously grateful.”
Recess is available for pri-
vate functions, reunions, wed-
ding events, graduation parties
and has worked with many local
companies and organizations.

This action-packed fundraiser
helps to support the Partnership’s
efforts to implement the Tillamook
Bay Comprehensive Conserva-
tion and Management Plan, which
identifies actions that restore water
quality, enhance degraded habitats,
reduce sedimentation and lessen the
impacts of coastal flooding — all of
which means more fish, better water
quality and improved natural habitat
for wildlife and people.
Whether you are interested in
fishing or just joining us for one (or
two) of the dinners, and snagging
something wonderful during our
silent auction on Saturday, we have
something for everyone.
