ogy Western Oregon, which
supports the creation of art
from erstwhile trash, pro-
viding selected artists with
access to discarded materi-
als, a monthly stipend and a
large studio space;
• The Astoria Open Stu-
dios Tour, an annual summer
showcase of visual arts, now
in its eighth year, which
provides an intimate look
into artists at work in studio
settings;
• The AVA Pop-Up Gal-
lery, which provides AVA
member-artists an opportu-
nity to showcase their work
on a monthly basis;
• The Miss Bea Johnson
Fund/Community-based Arts
Programming for Teens,
founded by Noel and Pat
Thomas, in partnership with
Astoria and Knappa High
Schools.
AVA’s plans include the
acquisition of a permanent
home for AVA with ADA-ac-
cessible exhibition space.
Under the leadership of
our new executive director,
Annie Eskelin, we hope to
further enhance, strengthen
and promote the arts in Asto-
ria for years to come.
The benefit night will be
held 4:30 to 10 p.m. Tues-
day, June 26, upstairs at Fort
George.
