ASTORIA — The Harbor’s 15th
annual Soup Bowl takes place
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June
2, at The Loft at the Red Build-
ing in Astoria.
Our focus this year is on the
opening of our new Confidential
Emergency Shelter, which is also
happening in June.
Did you know that, because of
many complex barriers, includ-
ing lack of safe housing, it takes
a survivor an average of seven
attempts to leave an abusive
relationship? Or that 50 to 75
percent of domestic violence
homicides occur when a survivor
is fleeing?
This is why emergency shelter
is an extremely vital service and
