Former maritime museum leader will address grads

Ostermiller
Jerry Ostermiller, a nation-
ally recognized educator and for-
mer director of the Columbia
River Maritime Museum, will be
the keynote speaker at Clatsop
Community College’s graduation
June 15.
Ostermiller, who led the
museum from 1989 to 2009, is a
lecturer for Lindblad Expeditions,
Cruise West and the Cunard Line’s
flagship Queen Mary 2. He has
been featured in documentaries
for the History Channel, Discov-
ery Channel, National Geographic
Society and the Learning Channel.
“As a local 20-year executive
director, I have not only hired staff
who attended CCC, but I have
taken advantage of the facility to
invest in some of my employees
by paying for classes to enhance
their skill sets,” he said in a release.
The college will award certifi-
cates and degrees to over 130 stu-
dents this year, including 113 two-
year degrees and 25 one-year
certificates.
