Payton Pritchard also scored 23 points and Elijah Brown added 18 for the Ducks (23-12), a three- seed that had no problem with one of the NIT experimental rules. The 3-point line was moved back 20 inches to match the international line and the Ducks were 14 of 25 from distance. Kenny Wooten had 12 points and 10 rebounds. After taking a 3-2 lead, Oregon didn’t lead again until a Pritchard layup made it 57-56 at 2:24 of the third quarter — quarters being another NIT rule. Nelson Cruz joined the Seattle Mariners’ growing list of injured players. Cruz hit a two-hop RBI single to the right-field wall in the first inning against Colorado, then walked slowly to the Mariners’ dugout while rubbing his right thigh and slightly favoring the leg. He was replaced by pinch runner Daniel Vogelbach, and the Mariners said Cruz had soreness in his right quadriceps. Second baseman Robinson Cano left Sunday’s game because of tight- ness in his left hamstring, and a scan Monday revealed a minor strain, the Mariners said. The Daily Astorian B END — The future is bright for Warrenton boys basketball, following a runner-up finish in a state tournament last weekend. Warrenton’s fifth-grade boys team advanced to the championship game of the Silver Division, in the Oregon Middle School state tournament Fri- day through Sunday in Bend. The Warrenton roster includes Matteus Avanozian, Josh Baker, Jacob Cox, Ian McCormick, Talon McGrorty, Tyson McGrorty, Calvin Olson, Austin Palmer, Odin Wilson and Brian Xochipiltecatl. Goggia followed up her Olympic downhill gold by claiming the sea- son-long World Cup title in the disci- pline, while Vonn narrowly beat Gog- gia to win the race at World Cup finals and record career victory No. 82. Goggia ended up three points ahead of Vonn in the standings. “It was really a (tough) race but she won the race and I won this,” Goggia said as she hugged the crys- tal globe trophy. “It’s always an honor to race her. “After the gold in Korea I knew that I could also win this cup but it wasn’t easy,” the Italian added. “I was a bit uncertain after missing a gate in training but I skied well today.” The only other Italian woman to win the downhill title was Isolde Kostner in 2001 and 2002. On the men’s side, Beat Feuz fin- ished ahead of Olympic champion Aksel Lund Svindal to take his first career discipline title. Austrian teammates Vincent Kriechmayr and Matthias Mayer tied for the win, finishing 0.04 seconds ahead of Feuz and 0.12 ahead of Svin- dal, giving the once-dominant team its first downhill victory of the season. In a shortened race that was more like a sprint than a full downhill, Vonn clocked 55.65 seconds to finish 0.06 ahead of Goggia. It was Vonn’s fourth straight World Cup downhill victory, after set- tling for bronze at the Pyeongchang Olympics. Wauna Credit Union knows different members have different needs .
