Night falls and so does snow

storia and other communities in the area were subjected to not one but two days of snowfall this week. There were only a few people walking Wednes-
day night around downtown Astoria to witness the visual phenomenon that can happen when large, slow falling snowflakes pass near artificial light
sources. During the day, snow falling from the sky typically does not show up well in photographs. But at night, it can be a different story. If photo-
graphed at the correct angle to a street light or neon sign, each snowflake captures the light and can show up brilliantly in the frame. So, the next time it snows
and night starts to fall, take out the smartphone and see if the camera can capture something similar. Just remember to bundle up, stay warm and be safe.
