After photographs on the beach in front of Haystack Rock with Cannon Beach
photographer Julie Adams, the small group celebrated with cake inside—Megan, who is
gluten free—still dreams about the scrumptious cake the bakers at the Stephanie Inn were
able to whip up to accommodate her dietary needs: a gluten free white chocolate
cheesecake.
Megan and Adam—both from Humboldt County, California—met at work in 2010,
became friends and fell in love. With talk of marriage, they knew they wanted to get married
on the beach in Oregon. They began researching scenic places on the coast and an image
of Cannon Beach popped up; they decided on an elopement package from The Stephanie
Inn.
For the honeymoon, the couple road-tripped from Cannon Beach to Portland for the
4th of July, down the coast to Lincoln City and enjoyed mini-adventures all the way back
to their hometown of McKinleyville, California.
Back home in California, a reception was held to celebrate with the rest of their friends
and family. Chris Tuite, a photographer and close friend of Adam’s from the San Francisco
area talked the couple into an adventurous photograph on Moonstone Beach near their
hometown. Chris hoped Adam and his new bride would oblige; he was right.
The adventurous couple—Adam and Megan—found themselves atop a rock on the
beach waiting to ‘trust fall’ into the arms of their friends and family waiting below on the
sand. Adam described the process: “we climbed up onto this very large rock on the beach
and guests stood below on the beach ready to catch us; the rock seemed entirely too high
off the ground. We suggested a smaller rock, but lost that vote.”
Megan noted “we’re actually a pretty low key couple. We like to read a lot, watch
movies and go on road trips. We’re a fun couple, but it’s easier said than done once you’re
up on that rock.”
Chris stood atop a 10-foot ladder, camera in hand finger poised on the shutter waiting
to capture a bird’s eye view of the fall. After mustering nerves of steel, Megan and Adam
grasped each other’s hands and fell backwards, letting their wedding guests catch them.
“Once we gathered everyone together, it was time to trust them to catch us—which they
did—phew! It was a great idea and was something everyone could be a part of.
