Dan Felt makes his way across a number of downed trees at a work party on the
property of Eric Callahan in Sunset Sands. Felt, whose brother Brian was the branch
president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Long Beach, came
down from Redmond to help clean up yards around the area.

Items like bread were in short supply but high demand for shoppers at Sid’s market
in Seaview, which was able to open by generator power. The shelves were picked
over for essentials like water, batteries, ice and bread.
The rural city of Vernonia was inundated by flooding Dec. 2 and 3, 2007. Then-Or-
egon Gov. Ted Kulongoski reviewed the damage from an Oregon Army National
Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter.

smashed like a tin can by a toppled tree.
